In a drought stricken country, the rain was a relief. A few weeks ago, the government declared a drought in many parts of the country.
Floods washed away cars and property in Hargeisa as the city movement was disrupted even after the rain was over. Stones, heavy metals, and other things blocked key roads.
"The city lacks drainage and rainwater do not have anywhere to go as buildings are constructed without sewer system or planning,” Jama Ismail told Somaliland Daily.
"The local government does not do anything in the city. This city lacks administration. Then the flood has to hit houses and buildings. There is no waste management. This is very harmful in terms of health. Deceases can outbreak” he added.
Many citizens used the social media to criticise the local government for failing to do its job.
The population of Hargeisa is increasing.
