Hargeisa- Long awaited presidential election is again postponed in Somaliland, the vice-president declared today.
The vice-president of Somaliland, Abdirahman Sayli briefing the media at the presidency after a meeting that brought together the president and his key cabinet members, the leaders of the three political parties and the National Electoral Commission, said the planned presidential election will not take place on time due to severe drought.

The incumbent president and his vice-president were jointly elected in 26th June 2010 for five years term. They received 20 months of extension in 2015 when their tenure expired.

The election was expected to happen on 28th March 2017. But now the political parties agree to push it back.

"The political parties will further discuss on the time the election could happen,” the vice-president said.
