Hargeisa-Two foreign employees of Danish Refugee Council (DRC) who were based in Somaliland were deported "for offending the religion of Islam," the Minister of National Planning and Development, Mohamed Ibrahim Adan, said.
In a press conference held at his office, the Minister accused a male and female staff members of DRC "offending the religion of Islam”. He said the female staff mocked her driver who was saying prayers whilst the other said demeaning remarks on the Adhan, the Islamic prayers call.

Danish Refugee Council has not commented on the decision of the government, but the Minister said DRC agreed the government to expel the staff. "DRC also fired the two employees,” he added.

The Minister said his government will not tolerate anyone who says or does anything that is degrading or contrary to Islam.

Somaliland is a conservative country.
