Somaliland confirms first COVID-19 death

Hargeisa- The Ministry of Health confirmed that man died in Borama for COVID-19, making the first death recorded for the novel coronavirus.

The death of the man was circulated yesterday, but the Ministry confirmed today.

He had no history of travelling outside of Somaliland.

The Ministry also confirmed three more cases of COVID-19, which made the total positive cases to 9.

The number of positive cases is still low compared to the region.

Previously, all those tested positive had returned outside of Somaliland. Now the virus is making local transmissions.
