HARGEISA- The chairman of UCID (Justice and Welfare Party) asked the government of Somaliland to close the border between Somaliland and Ethiopia, accusing the later of maltreatment of Somaliland citizens.
"Our citizens are maltreated by the Ethiopian Lyu Police. The way they are treated is unacceptable,” Faisal said.
"Ethiopia benefits from the relations. It exports Khat, vegetables and others to Somaliland. Hundreds of Ethiopians cross the border to Somaliland easily every day, and Ethiopia gives visa to ten people,” he added.
Faisal aired fierce criticism to Ethiopian in number of times recently. He argues that Ethiopia abuses the citizens of Somaliland and that it does not give mutual respect.
Faisal used to be strong supporter of the relations of the two countries.
Neither the government of Somaliland nor Ethiopia responded this criticism.
