    Somaliland: court releases a journalist on bail

    HARGEISA-Mohamed Adan Dirir, a journalist arrested on 24 May, has been released on bail. Mohamed is not charged of any crime.

HARGEISA-Mohamed Adan Dirir, a journalist arrested on 24 May, has been released on bail. Mohamed is not charged of any crime.

He was arrested after he asked the health minister at a press conference a question critical to his work performance.

Detention and arrest of journalists is increasing in Somaliland, according to Human Rights Centre, a local human rights advocacy organization that monitors the situation of media in Somaliland.
