Hargeisa-Mohamed Saed Hersi (aka Moorgan), known as the Butcher of Hargeisa, for his part of the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Siad Barre regime in Somaliland in 1980s was seen honoured in the inauguration ceremony of the president of Somalia Mohamed Abdilaahi Farmaajo.
Moorgan, the son-in-law of Siad Barre, the dictator who ruled Somalia with an iron fist, served many positions including the minister of defence under his father-in-law.

Moorgan is accused of the shelling and indiscriminate bombings of Hargeisa. The international human rights organizations documented war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Moorgan.

He was most hated and feared general in Somalia.

Moorgan was among the dignitaries at the inauguration ceremony of President Farmaajo.

"It was shocking to see him honoured by a president many expected to come with change. Farmaajo proved today that he is neither interested in the crimes committed nor the victims,” says Guleid Ahmed Jama, a human rights lawyer who is the head of local human right advocacy organization called Human Rights Centre.

"The victims have been waiting justice for a long time. Instead of giving justice, the perpetrators are praised,” he added.

Many Somalilanders and other Somalis expressed anger at the social media.
