    Somaliland: the Minister of Presidency calls on the Police to respect the human rights

    Hargeisa- Speaking in an event where vehicles and equipment were handed over to the Police by the President of Somaliland Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud, the Minister of Presidency said the Police "shall protect the rights and freedoms of citizens"

Hargeisa- Speaking in an event where vehicles and equipment were handed over to the Police by the President of Somaliland Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud, the Minister of Presidency said the Police "shall protect the rights and freedoms of citizens", and urged them to conduct arrests in due process of law.

"We deny the numerous allegations against our government alleging abuses of human rights and freedoms of citizens,” Minister of Presidency of the Republic of Somaliland, Mohamoud Hashi Abdi said.

"But, there could be cases and incidents,” he added.


Hashi said "we are informing the security forces that we shall protect the rights of citizens and freedoms”.

Rights groups and others have been accusing the police of human rights violations.
