HARGEISA-U.S. delegation led by the U.S. Ambassador to Somalia, Stephen Michael Schwartz, visited Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland. Ambassador Schwartz met the vice president of Somaliland, the National Electoral Commission, the political parties and other stakeholders.
Somaliland will be holding a presidential election on November this year.
The international community expressed their concern and discounts of the continuing postponement of the presidential elections.
The current president’s term expired on July 2015, but he received extensions twice.
This is the first time Ambassador Achwartz visited Somaliland since he was sworn in as the thirteenth United States Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Somalia on 27th June
