Hargeisa- The Federal Government of Somalia has fired the head of the intelligence agency, Abdillahi Mohamed Sanbalooshe, and the police commissionaire, Abdihakim Daahir Saa'id. The dismissal comes after more than 20 people were killed in an attack in a hotel close to the presidency.

The attack, claimed by al Shabaab, targeted Naasa Hablood Hotel. A suicide car exploded followed by attackers who stormed the hotel.

The president of Somalia, Mohamed Abdilahi Farmaajo, was planning to have a meeting at the hotel, but he was not there at the time of the attack.

On 14 October, a huge explosion in Mogadishu killed more than 300 people and wounded others.
