Hargeisa- Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi, the chairman of the main opposition party, accused the government of 'corruption and theft."

The chairman of Waddani held a press conference today at his office in Hargeisa.

He said Somaliland Investment Company registered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Somaliland’s Representative in the United Arab Emirates, is " a tool, instrument or mechanism intended to loot the property of the people.”

Abdirahman called on Saad Ali Shire, the foreign minister, and Bashe Awil, to resign.

He called the registration of the company "a scandal.”

In a press statement issued by Somaliland's representative to UAE, the son-in-law of the former president Silanyo said Somaliland Investment Company has been registered with the UAE.

According to the document, Bashe, the representative, and the Foreign Minister of Somaliland, Dr Saad Ali Shire, are directors of the company.

He said the Company will help Somaliland to attract foreign investment.

However, the director general of the Ministry of Investment said he is not aware of the company in question. The former minister of the ministry of trade also said he was not informed of the company’s formation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs said the current minister of finance was informed of the existence of the company after its formation.
