HARGEISA- Mohamed Sidiq Dhame, the Young Wing leader, and Yonis Ahmed Yonis, the Sports Secretary of Waddani opposition party, went on hunger strike in protest of the condition of their detention, party leaders said today.

Mohamed and Yonis were arrested on 11 April and accused of instigation to disobey the law and circulating false news for accusing the government in demolishing perimeter fences of houses in the centre of Hargeisa to give access to hotel owned by the First Lady.

The charge sheet says these claims are not true and accused the opposition members of organizing a people who protested against the demolitions.

Their families and party officials were refused to meet them, says the Secretary General of Waddani, Mohamed Abdilahi.

Yesterday, the court remanded Mohamed and Yonis seven days into custody.

The hearing will commence on 29th April, according to their lawyer.
