HARGEISA- The President of Somaliland Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud officially declared the date the presidential elections will be held. In a statement issued by the president states that the long awaited presidential elections will be voted on 13 November 2017.

The term of the serving president expired on July 2015. But the incumbent received extensions twice.

The voter cards distributions were halted during Ramadan, the fasting month of Muslims, and will commence after Ramadan ends late June. The electoral laws require the president to official declare the date elections will be conducted after the recomendations of the National Electoral Commission.
