Hargeisa- The National Electoral Commission just announced that Muse Behi Abdi, the presidential candidate of the ruling part, won 13 November election.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the electoral body, Chairman Abdikadir Iman said the election was free, fair and credible.
Muse Behi Abdi of Kulmiye got 55.19% of the votes whereas the nearest candidate, Abdirahmaan Mohamed Abdilahi, got 40.73%, and the third candidate, Faisal Ali Warabe, got 4.17%.
Abdirahmaan Mohamed Abdilahi, the presidential candidate of Waddani, talking to the media last night said the election was marred by irregularities and "widespread rigging."
The opposition candidates and the president-elect are yet to make statements.
