Hargeisa- Muse Behi Abi, the new president of Somaliland, who took over the presidency on 13th December appointed his cabinet members.

The council of ministers consisting of 32 was read by the spokesperson of the presidency.

Only 3 are female.

Some of the ministers of the outgoing government retain positions.

Saad Ali Shire, the foreign minister, and Sheikh Khalil, the minister of religious affairs, retain their positions.

Yasin Faratoon who was the minister of interior is now becoming the new minister of education.

Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, a longtime friend of the president and the deputy chairman of the ruling party, will take the interior ministry portfolio. The spokesperson of the ruling party is made the minister of livestock and fisheries.

The current deputy minister of interior will stay.

The new faces include the minister of finance, Mohamed Muse Dirie, and the minister of defense, Ese Ahmed Yousuf.

Ahmed Moumin Seed, the former deputy chairman of the opposition Waddani party, who fled the party for a dispute, is appointed the minister of agriculture.

There are only two female ministers; Shukri Bander who will stay her current position as the minister of environment and Hidna Jama, the new minister of employment and social affairs. Yurub Jama is the third cabinet member who will be the new deputy minister of livestock and fisheries.

The cabinet is subject to the approval of the House of Representatives of the Parliament.
