Hargeisa- The Police in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, arrested a man who is accused of raping a six years old girl. He was arrested on Saturday after the mother of the child reported to the police.

The rape occurred on Friday evening. The alleged rapist is a neighbour of the family.

A medical assistance was given to the child who was repeatedly raped, according to sources.

The Criminal Investigation Department is now conducting an investigation to present a case to the court.

 

The Lower House of the Parliament recently approved a Rape Bill penalizing rape and other sexual offences.
