Hargeisa- Mohamed Hashi Elmi, the former finance minister of Somaliland, said the talks of Somaliland and Somalia shall be suspended.

Elmi who served minister under Rayale and Silanyo administrations is one of the founders of Somali National Movement, the rebel group that ousted Siad Barre regime from Somaliland in 1991.

He said the talks are fruitless and do not serve the interest of Somaliland.

The Foreign Minister of Somaliland recently met his counterpart of Somalia.

Faisal Ali Warabe, the chairman of UCID party, told the media that the negotiations will resume soon.
