The appointment is said to be a replacement of Mohamed Abdilahi Uuradde which the committee said it removed from the position, a move he rejects.
Uuradde argues that the executive committee has no mandate to sack him because he is "elected by a general assembly.”
The newly appointed secretary-general is a Diaspora not known in politics.
Uuradde insists that he is the legitimate secretary general and accused the chairman of plotting against him.
