Hargeisa- Volunteers who fundraised using the social media distributed food and water to 150 families in the drought hit Sanaag region. "Severe drought affected the region due to failure of consecutive rainy seasons. Pasture and water depleted," Abdinasir Ahmed Adam, a member of the organizers said.

"Youth activists teamed up to fundraise for the displaced pastoralists across the region. Within a week, the team has raised money that is enough to feed 150 households,” Abdinasir said.

Each family received food items and water. Also medical teams were dispatched to provide free medical services, he added.

Somaliland is facing serious drought conditions with the larger part of the population in eastern Sool and Sanaag regions facing extreme conditions.
