HARGEISA- The president of Somaliland last week said he will appoint a committee that will supervise the electoral process ahead of November presidential election. His advisor on elections, Abdilaahi Abdi Haji Omar, said the president's decision is illegal.
Talking to the media in Hargeisa, Abdilahi said the president did not consult him and establishment of any committee different form the National Electoral Commission is wrong and undemocratic.
The opposition of the advisor who used to be a member of the electoral commission came after the main opposition party, Waddani, also criticised the president’s decision.
The president did not make explanation of the tasks of the committee.
It was not expected an advisor to the president to publicly oppose his president.
